Welcome Back Emma
We are pleased to welcome back a friendly face to the team. Emma Banbury has returned from studying in Wellington to take on our Administrator role here at Rural Accountants in Whakatane.
A family affair, the Banbury name is already well-known in our business and historically associated with accounting firms in Whakatane. Accountant, Jeff Banbury stayed on with the business when we joined offices with Prideaux & Co in 2018, as did Prideaux co-owner and Jeff’s mother, Jane Tyson, also an accountant with us.
While Emma stayed on with Rural Accountants for a short period after the two businesses joined forces, she already had plans to undertake a degree, majoring in English and Philosophy, at a University in Wellington.
Emma goes on to explain further, “Unfortunately the pandemic hit and it became clear the University was not going to be able to deliver the quality of education I had expected so I made the decision to put my degree on hold and return home.”
Wellington’s loss was our gain, as the team are all happy to have Emma back as our Administrator undertaking project-based work, customer service support and some GST coding.
Not one to sit around waiting, Emma is also establishing a life for herself in Whakatane having recently joined the local tennis club and signing up for tennis lessons. And of course, we had to ask Emma for her current book and podcast recommendations!
“Lately I’ve been recommending ‘Braiding Sweetgrass’ by Robin Wall Kimmerer, and I really enjoy the ‘Philosophize This’ podcast.”
